Amazon ads not spending: what to check and how to fix it

An Amazon campaign stops spending for one of three reasons: the ad is not eligible to serve, the bid is too low to win any auction, or the budget or wallet is capped. Work through the eight checks below in order. Most sellers find the cause in the first four, and none of the fixes need a new campaign.

Filter all campaigns by spend and impressions in one view

First, confirm it is not spending

Open the campaign and set the date range to the last three days. Amazon reports can lag by several hours, and ad sales can be attributed up to seven days after the click for sellers, so a campaign that looks dead this morning may simply be waiting on data. If spend is genuinely zero or a small fraction of the daily budget for three straight days, carry on.

Also check whether the whole account is quiet or just one campaign. If every campaign has stopped, jump to the wallet and account checks. If it is one campaign, the cause is almost always eligibility, bid or targeting.

The eight checks, in order

  1. Check the ad status column

Amazon marks ads as Ineligible when the product cannot serve. The usual reasons are lost Buy Box, out of stock, a suppressed listing or a policy flag. An agency guide from SalesDuo notes that an ad without the Buy Box pauses automatically. Fix: win the Buy Box back (price, stock, fulfilment) and the ad resumes on its own.

  2. Check the wallet balance

On Amazon India, Sponsored ads for many seller accounts are paid from the Seller Ads wallet. A zero or negative balance stops every campaign. Fix: recharge the wallet and wait an hour. Our wallet guide covers negative balance and refunds.

  3. Check the campaign, ad group and portfolio dates

An ended portfolio budget, a paused ad group or an end date that passed will silently stop delivery. Fix: remove the end date or extend the portfolio budget.

  4. Compare your bid with the suggested bid range

If your bid is below the low end of Amazon's suggested range for the keyword, you lose most auctions and get few impressions. Fix: raise the bid to the low end of the range on your best five to ten keywords first, not on everything.

  5. Look at the daily budget in absolute terms

Sellers on the Seller Central India forum report clicks between ₹39 and ₹150 in competitive categories, and one thread calls a ₹100 to ₹200 daily budget unworkable. A budget that buys two clicks a day will look like it is not spending. Fix: set the budget so it buys at least ten clicks at the current CPC.

  6. Check targeting size

A manual campaign with three exact-match keywords of low search volume may simply have nothing to spend on. Fix: add a broad or phrase variant, or a product-targeting ad group, so the campaign has inventory to bid on.

  7. Check negatives and campaign overlap

Negative keywords added at campaign level can block the very terms you want. Two campaigns bidding on the same term also split impressions. Fix: review the negative list and pause the weaker duplicate.

  8. Check budget rules and bidding strategy

A budget rule scheduled for a past event or a Dynamic bids, down only strategy with a low starting bid can hold delivery down. Fix: remove stale rules and test Fixed bids at the suggested amount for a week.

Why the fix is usually a bid, not a budget

Raising the daily budget on a campaign that spends ₹40 of a ₹500 budget does nothing. The campaign is not budget-limited, it is auction-limited. Raising bids on the keywords that already get impressions is what changes delivery. Amazon's help page on budgets explains that daily budget is a cap, not a target, and that delivery depends on winning auctions.

The opposite is also true. A campaign that spends its full budget by noon is budget-limited, and raising bids there only empties the budget faster. Blooprint's Amazon ads budget rules and bidding guide covers the budget-rule side in depth; this page stays on the not-spending case.

How to find these campaigns faster

In the Amazon console you check campaigns one by one. In BlooprintAI you filter every campaign in the account by spend, impressions and status in one view, so the campaigns spending under 20% of budget are listed together with their bids and the suggested bid range. From there you select the keywords to raise and apply the change in bulk, after reviewing a summary of what will change.

Nothing changes on its own. BlooprintAI does not raise bids automatically and does not run hourly optimisation; it prepares the change and you approve it.

When not spending is the right outcome

Sometimes a quiet campaign is doing you a favour. If the product has fewer than a handful of reviews, no Buy Box or a price well above competitors, spending more on ads only buys clicks that do not convert. Fix the listing first. Our clicks but no sales guide covers that decision.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Amazon campaign active but not spending?

Active only means the campaign is switched on. Delivery also needs an eligible ad, a bid that wins auctions and a positive wallet balance. Check the ad status column, the wallet and the suggested bid range, in that order.

How long does a new Amazon campaign take to start spending?

Ads normally start serving within a few hours of approval, and reports fill in over the next day. Give a new campaign 48 to 72 hours before judging it, and longer for sales, because seller attribution runs seven days.

Does Amazon stop ads when I lose the Buy Box?

Yes. Sponsored Products ads only serve when your offer is the featured offer, so a lost Buy Box marks the ad ineligible and spend drops to zero until you win it back.

Should I raise the budget to get a campaign spending?

Only if it hits the budget cap every day. If spend is a small fraction of the budget, the problem is bids or eligibility and a bigger budget changes nothing.

Can BlooprintAI fix a campaign that is not spending automatically?

No. BlooprintAI shows you which campaigns are underspending and lets you raise bids in bulk after a review step, but every change is applied by you.
