Amazon Sponsored Products ineligible: why an ad stops serving and how to fix it

A Sponsored Products ad shows Ineligible when Amazon will not serve it, for one of five reasons: the offer is not the featured offer (Buy Box), the product is out of stock, the listing is suppressed, the ad breaks an advertising policy, or the category is closed to ads. The status column tells you which; the fixes below take from an hour to a few days.

What Ineligible actually means

Ineligible is a status Amazon puts on an individual ad, not on the campaign. The campaign can be Delivering while half of its ads are Ineligible, which is why spend drops without any warning email. Hover over the status in Campaign Manager and Amazon shows a short reason. Granular's guide to the status lists five causes, Buy Box, shipping, stock, policy and category, and our experience with Indian accounts matches that list.

The ad comes back on its own once the cause is fixed. You do not need to recreate the campaign, and doing so throws away the keyword history that Amazon uses to rank your ad.

The five causes and the fix for each

  1. Not the featured offer (Buy Box lost)

Sponsored Products only serves the featured offer. SalesDuo's guide notes that an ad without the Buy Box pauses automatically. Check the offer on the product page: if another seller is featured, the usual reasons are price, fulfilment method or seller metrics. Fix the price or move the SKU to FBA, and the ad resumes when your offer is featured again.

  2. Out of stock

No sellable units means no ad. Check Manage Inventory for the SKU and, if it is FBA, whether the stock is in a fulfilment centre or still inbound. The ad returns the day stock is available.

  3. Listing suppressed or missing content

A listing with a missing main image, a title over the category limit, a restricted keyword or a pricing error is suppressed for shoppers and therefore for ads. Fix listing quality alerts in Manage Inventory. Blooprint's listing optimisation guide covers content; this page stays on the ad status.

  4. Advertising policy

Amazon's creative and acceptance policies reject some products outright and others because of the listing text (claims, before-and-after language, adult content). The hover reason says Policy. Read the policy page for the category, edit the listing, and if the product itself is disallowed there is no fix.

  5. Closed category

Some categories cannot be advertised at all or only by approved sellers. Amazon's help page lists them. If your product is in one, ads will show Ineligible whatever you change.

Sponsored Display and Sponsored Brands ineligible

The same five causes apply, with two extras. Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display need Brand Registry, so a product outside your registered brand shows Ineligible in those campaign types even when its Sponsored Products ad is fine. Sponsored Display also needs the product to be in stock and featured at the moment the ad would render on a product page; a YouTube tutorial with over 11,000 views on fixing Ineligible Sponsored Display ads exists because this trips up so many sellers. Check the brand, then the Buy Box.

How to find ineligible ads faster

The console shows status per campaign, so an account with sixty campaigns and eight hundred ads means a lot of clicking. In BlooprintAI you filter every Amazon India ad across all campaigns by status, so the Ineligible list appears together with the SKU, campaign and last-seven-day spend. You then know which ads to fix first: the ones that were carrying sales last week.

BlooprintAI cannot fix eligibility itself, because the cause sits in the listing or the offer, not in the campaign. It can pause the ad, move the budget to an ad group that is serving, and log the change; every bulk action shows a summary before it is applied.

Prevent it: three checks before every campaign

  • Confirm you hold the featured offer on every SKU you plan to advertise, and set a price alert if a competitor sells the same ASIN.
  • Keep at least two weeks of stock in FBA before a sale event; an ad that goes Ineligible on day two of the Great Indian Festival is the most expensive kind.
  • Run the ad status check once a week, not once a quarter. Eligibility flips without notice.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Amazon ad say Ineligible?

The offer is not the featured offer, the product is out of stock, the listing is suppressed, the ad breaks an advertising policy or the category is closed to ads. Hover over the status in Campaign Manager and Amazon names the reason.

Does an Ineligible ad cost money?

No. Ineligible means Amazon is not serving the ad, so there are no impressions, clicks or charges until it becomes eligible again.

Will the ad restart on its own when I fix the listing?

Yes. Once the offer is featured, in stock and compliant, the ad returns to Delivering within hours. You do not need to recreate the campaign.

Why is my Sponsored Display ad ineligible when the Sponsored Products ad is fine?

Sponsored Display and Sponsored Brands need Brand Registry. A product that is not part of your registered brand cannot run in those campaign types.

Can BlooprintAI make an ad eligible?

No. Eligibility depends on the listing and the offer. BlooprintAI lists every Ineligible ad across the account so you can fix the listing and move budget while you wait.
