Free Amazon PPC audit: a 12-point self-check

An Amazon PPC audit is a structured review of where ad spend goes and what it brings back, before any bid is changed. This page gives you a 12-point checklist you can complete from Campaign Manager and the search-term report in about an hour, then explains what the automated audit inside BlooprintAI's free trial adds. No form, no sales call.

Before you start

Download the last 30 and 90 days of the campaign, targeting, search-term and placement reports from Campaign Manager. Blooprint's Amazon PPC audit checklist on blooprint.in explains each report; this page is the checklist itself.

Write down each product's break-even ACoS before you begin. Every question below is judged against it.

The 12-point checklist

  1. 1. Spend concentration

What share of spend sits in keywords and targets with zero orders in 90 days? Above 20% is the first thing to fix, with negatives or paused targets.

  2. 2. ACoS against break-even, by campaign

List campaigns whose 30-day ACoS is above the product's break-even. Those are losing money on every ad sale; decide whether each is a deliberate launch investment.

  3. 3. Campaign structure

Does each product family have auto plus manual campaigns, with exact, phrase and broad separated? Mixed match types in one ad group make bids impossible to judge.

  4. 4. Search-term harvesting

Are there converting search terms in auto or broad campaigns that have not been added as exact keywords in a manual campaign? Count them.

  5. 5. Negative keywords

Do search terms with many clicks and no orders appear repeatedly across weeks? Each one still spending is a missing negative.

  6. 6. Bids versus maximum

For your top 20 spending keywords, compare the current bid with price × CVR × target ACoS. Note every keyword bidding above its maximum.

  7. 7. Placement adjustments

Is CPC far above bid on some campaigns? Check the top-of-search and product-page adjustments and whether the placement report justifies them.

  8. 8. Budget caps

Which campaigns run out of budget before evening, and are they your best ACoS campaigns or your worst? Budget should follow efficiency.

  9. 9. Branded versus generic

What share of ad sales comes from your own brand terms? High branded ACoS efficiency can hide poor generic performance.

  10. 10. Unadvertised products

Which ASINs with stock and sales history have no active ads? Count them.

  11. 11. Suppressed or out-of-stock ASINs in ads

Are any advertised ASINs out of stock or losing the buy box? Their campaigns spend on clicks that cannot convert.

  12. 12. Trend

Is 30-day ACoS better or worse than 90-day ACoS? Is TACoS rising? A worsening trend with steady spend means efficiency is slipping.

Score each question as fine, fix soon or fix now. Most accounts have three to five fix-now items, usually questions 1, 5, 6 and 8.

What the audit inside BlooprintAI shows

The checklist takes an hour because the reports have to be joined by hand. When you connect an Amazon account during BlooprintAI's 7-day free trial, about three months of data loads and the same checks run on the real account. It is software output, not a human review. What you get:

  • Keyword efficiency buckets: every keyword sorted into Top Performers, Underperformers, Hidden Gems and Money Pits, with spend and sales for each bucket (questions 1, 4, 6)
  • Insights: money pits, portfolio health, strategy gaps and trends surfaced automatically (questions 2, 3, 12)
  • Search-term and placement views joined to keywords, so negatives and placement decisions come from one table (questions 5, 7)
  • Budget review table with spend against budget per campaign (question 8)
  • Product-level views that show which ASINs are advertised and how each performs (questions 10, 11)
  • Target ACoS per campaign, with filters against it, so question 2 becomes a saved filter rather than a spreadsheet

Whatever you find, you fix it yourself: filter, review the summary, apply in bulk, keep the log. BlooprintAI does not change bids or add negatives on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Amazon PPC audit really free?

Yes. The 12-point checklist needs only your own reports from Campaign Manager. The automated audit runs inside BlooprintAI's 7-day free trial, which takes no card.

Will someone from Blooprint review my account?

Not as part of this page or the trial. The trial gives you software output on your connected account. Blooprint does offer consulting separately, but this audit is a self-service tool.

Which reports do I need for the checklist?

Campaign, targeting, search-term and placement reports for the last 30 and 90 days, plus each product's break-even ACoS from its price, cost and fees.

How often should I audit an Amazon PPC account?

Run the full checklist quarterly and before big sale events. Questions 1, 5 and 8 (wasted spend, negatives, budgets) are worth a weekly look.

What is the most common finding?

Spend concentrated in keywords and search terms that never convert, usually in auto and broad campaigns that were never harvested or negated. Fixing that alone often moves account ACoS by several points.

Does the audit cover Flipkart?

The checklist is written for Amazon. BlooprintAI's Flipkart reporting has equivalent views (unadvertised FSNs, budget monitor, campaign health, search terms) once a Flipkart account is connected.
