A Flipkart ads budget rule is a condition you set in the Ads panel that changes a campaign's budget automatically, for example adding budget when ROI is above a threshold or the campaign is running out early. Rules are built in the Smart Rule Manager. Saral is a separate setting that holds total ad spend at a percentage of sales. All three act on budgets, not on keyword bids.
Flipkart Ads has added three budget controls in the last year, and sellers confuse them because the names overlap. The Smart Rule Manager is the screen where rules live. A Budget Rule is one type of rule: when a campaign meets a condition you choose, such as ROI above a figure or budget used up before a time of day, Flipkart adds or removes budget by an amount you set. Rishi Ecommerce's walkthrough of the 'new Add Budget Rule feature' has over 15,000 views, and Flipkart Ads published its own short how-to.
Saral works differently. Instead of rules per campaign, you tell Flipkart what share of sales you are willing to spend on ads, and the platform manages daily spend to hold that ratio. Flipkart Ads' 'Introducing Saral' video passed 60,000 views within three weeks, per the counts in our research. Blooprint's Smart ROI versus CPC guide covers the bidding side; this page is about the budget automation.
| Budget Rule | Saral | |
|---|---|---|
| Level | Per campaign | Account or group of campaigns |
| You set | Condition and budget change | Ad spend as % of sales |
| Good for | Keeping winners funded through the day | Holding a steady ad-to-sales ratio |
| Risk | Rules that add budget without an upper cap | Ratio held on attributed sales that are still filling in |
| Leaves to you | Bids, keywords, FSN choice | Bids, keywords, FSN choice |
Neither tool touches the decision that actually sets profit: which FSNs and search terms deserve the money at what bid. A rule that tops up a campaign because its ROI is above 5 keeps funding whatever that campaign is spending on, including the terms inside it that lose money.
Rules should keep proven campaigns live, not rescue weak ones. Only campaigns above break-even ROI over a closed fortnight qualify.
For example: if ROI over the last seven days is above your target and more than 80% of the daily budget is used before 4 pm, add 20%. Time matters because Flipkart's evening traffic is where many orders arrive.
Set a maximum daily budget per campaign that the rule cannot exceed. Without it, a rule can walk a ₹1,000 campaign to several thousand in a week.
If ROI over seven days falls below break-even, reduce budget. A one-way rule only ever spends more.
Rules persist after the reason for them has gone, such as a sale event or a stock-out.
Saral's percentage should come from your margin, not from a benchmark. If your margin before ads is 25%, spending 25% of sales on ads leaves nothing; most mature accounts hold ad spend at somewhere around 8 to 15% of ad-driven sales, a range Blooprint's budget guide explains. Start at the lower end and raise it only when the extra spend returns ROI above break-even.
Two caveats. Saral measures against sales, and attributed sales keep arriving for days after the click, so a new percentage takes a closed period to judge. And Saral cannot tell which products are worth their share: a ratio held at 10% can still include one FSN at 40% and four at 4%.
Flipkart's rules are free and worth using on stable campaigns. They automate the budget half of the job. The bid and targeting half, going through search terms, FSNs and placements and deciding what to cut and what to raise, still needs a person. BlooprintAI is built for that half: it filters every Flipkart keyword, FSN and placement by ROI, CPC and spend and applies bid, budget and multiplier changes in bulk after a summary you approve. It does not run rules on a schedule or change bids by itself; you decide, and it removes the row-by-row clicks.
Create PLA campaigns in bulk, filter FSNs and keywords by ROI, CPC and spend, and update bids and budgets in one go. ₹12,999 per month, 7-day free trial.

No. Budget Rule and Saral change how much a campaign may spend. Bids per keyword and placement multipliers are still set by you, or by Flipkart if the campaign uses Smart ROI.
Yes, if it only adds budget and has no ceiling. Always set a maximum daily budget per campaign and a matching rule that cuts budget when ROI falls below break-even.
