Flipkart PCA (Product Contextual Ads) are banner and video ads that show on browse pages, product pages and the home feed, matched to the shopper's context rather than a typed search, and billed on impressions rather than clicks. They are a brand and visibility format, not a direct-response one. This guide explains when PCA earns its budget next to PLA, and how to measure it.
PLA puts your product tile in a sponsored slot when someone searches or browses, and you pay per click. PCA puts a designed creative, a banner or a short video, in placements across browse pages, product pages and the home feed, matched to categories and shopper context, and you pay per thousand impressions. PLA answers demand that already exists; PCA creates and steers it.
Flipkart's own introduction video and its festive playlist frame PCA as a complement, with the specific claim that skipping it leaves roughly a fifth of available visibility to competitors during sale periods. Treat that as Flipkart's number, not an audited one. Blooprint's PLA versus PCA post covers the formats side by side; this page is about the decision.
When it is not worth it: a single low-priced FSN with thin margin, a listing that already fails to convert PLA clicks, or an account whose weekly ad budget is under a few thousand rupees. PCA impressions are cheap individually but the volume adds up, and unlike PLA, the spend does not stop when nobody clicks.
PCA is available to sellers who meet Flipkart's criteria in the Ads panel; brand-registered sellers and larger accounts see it first. If the option is missing, the account is not yet eligible.
Choose the categories and contexts to show in. Narrow to categories where your products belong; broad targeting wastes impressions on shoppers who cannot buy from you.
Follow Flipkart's banner and video specs exactly. The creative goes through review before serving; rejections are usually about text density, claims or missing product images.
Start with a daily budget you can afford to lose for a week, because the first week is learning. Bid near the suggested CPM and adjust from the placement and frequency data.
Send the click to a brand store or a curated listing set, not to a single FSN, unless the campaign is a launch.
PCA reports impressions, clicks, CTR, spend and attributed sales, and from those a ROI. Because billing is per impression, cost per click is derived, and it is usually far lower than PLA's, which flatters the format if you compare CPCs alone.
Use three checks. First, attributed ROI against your break-even, exactly as for PLA, remembering that view-based attribution is looser than click-based. Second, the lift in PLA and organic sales for the same FSNs during the PCA flight compared with the two weeks before; if PCA is doing its job, branded search terms and PLA orders rise. Third, cost per new customer if the campaign is a launch.
Worked example: a ₹15,000 PCA flight at a ₹150 CPM buys 1,00,000 impressions. At a 0.4% CTR that is 400 clicks, and at a 3% conversion rate, 12 orders. If the average order is ₹900, attributed revenue is ₹10,800 and ROI is 0.72, a loss on its own. If the flight also lifted PLA and organic sales on the same FSNs by ₹40,000 over the fortnight, the campaign paid. Without that second number you cannot judge it.
Most sellers with both formats put the majority of spend in PLA, because it is measurable and demand-driven, and use PCA for a share sized to the goal: a launch, a sale event or a brand push. A reasonable starting split for an account new to PCA is 80/20, reviewed monthly on the lift test above. BlooprintAI shows PCA metrics alongside PLA in the Flipkart reporting dashboard so the comparison is on one screen; PLA campaigns can be created and optimised from BlooprintAI, and PCA campaigns are managed in the Flipkart Ads panel.

They do different jobs. PLA captures existing search demand and is easier to measure. PCA reaches shoppers who did not search for you, so it suits brands, launches and sale events. Most accounts run PLA first and add PCA for reach.
It is billed per thousand impressions at a CPM you bid, plus 18% GST. Flipkart does not publish a rate card; the suggested CPM in the panel is the guide. Budget it as a flight you can afford to learn from.
Sellers whose accounts meet Flipkart's eligibility criteria see the PCA option in the Ads panel; brand-registered and larger sellers typically get it first. If it is missing, the account is not yet eligible.
Check attributed ROI against break-even, then compare PLA and organic sales on the same FSNs during the flight with the fortnight before. PCA that works lifts branded searches and PLA orders, not just its own attributed number.
Not today. BlooprintAI creates and optimises PLA campaigns and shows PCA performance next to PLA in the Flipkart reporting dashboard. PCA campaigns are set up in the Flipkart Ads panel.
