Amazon Ads promotional credits: where they are and how to use them

Amazon Ads promotional credits are free advertising spend that Amazon adds to a seller account, usually for new sellers, new-to-advertising accounts or specific events. They are applied automatically against Sponsored ads charges before your wallet or card is used, they expire on a fixed date, and they are not cash. This page shows where to check them and how to spend them without waste.

How promotional credits work

A promotional credit is a balance Amazon grants for advertising only. When your campaigns run up charges, the credit is consumed first and the remainder is billed to your wallet, card or disbursement as usual. Amazon's help pages on billing describe credits as applied automatically; there is no button to spend them on a specific campaign.

Credits come with an expiry. New-seller offers on Amazon India typically require the account to start advertising within a set period, and the credit lapses unused if campaigns are not running. The expiry date is shown next to the credit in the billing section.

Where to check your credits

  1. Open Billing in the ads console

From Seller Central, go to Advertising, Campaign Manager, then the Billing or Payments section.

  2. Look for promotional credits or credit notes

Credits appear with an amount, an issue date and an expiry date. Consumed credits appear on invoices as a deduction. A Seller Central India forum thread on downloading invoices and credit notes confirms they sit together.

  3. Check the wallet page if you are on prepaid

On the seller ads wallet, credits are listed separately from your own balance. Spend hits credits first.

  4. Read the offer email

The terms email says whether the credit covers all Sponsored ads or only Sponsored Products, and when it expires.

Credits and ACoS reporting

Campaign Manager reports spend at the auction price whether a credit paid for it or not, so ACoS in your reports is unaffected by credits. That is the right behaviour: a credit is a discount on the bill, not a change in what the clicks were worth. When you review a credit-funded month, read ACoS as if you had paid, and treat the credit as a saving on the invoice. Otherwise a free month will look far better than the paid months that follow it.

How to use credits without wasting them

  • Run campaigns that would have been worth running anyway. Free spend on a listing that does not convert is still a lost learning opportunity.
  • Use them for the tests you would not normally fund: an auto campaign for search-term discovery, or a Sponsored Brands test if you have Brand Registry.
  • Do not raise bids just because the money is free. Inflated bids teach you the wrong CPC and the habit outlasts the credit.
  • Track the expiry date in your calendar and make sure a campaign is live for the last week before it.
  • Keep the invoice and credit note. The credit reduces the taxable amount billed, which matters for GST reconciliation.

Who gets promotional credits and when

Credits are offers, not entitlements. The common triggers on Amazon India are a new seller account within its first months, a seller who has never advertised being invited to start, a Brand Registry enrolment, and event-linked offers around the Great Indian Festival or Prime Day. Amazon also sends targeted offers to accounts it wants to reactivate. The offer arrives by email and in the ads console, with a condition such as spend within a set number of days.

There is no way to request a credit, and no fixed amount. Sellers on YouTube report values from a few hundred to a few thousand rupees, and the terms vary by offer. If you see a credit in the console with no email, read the terms on the credit itself before planning around it.

What credits do not do

Credits do not refund past spend, do not carry over past the expiry date, cannot be transferred between accounts or marketplaces, and cannot be withdrawn as cash. If a credit shows as applied but your wallet was still debited for the same period, the credit may have covered an earlier cycle; compare the invoice lines before raising a case.

If a credit was promised in an offer email and never appeared, a Seller Support case under Advertising, Billing with the offer reference is the way to chase it.

Seeing what the credit bought

Credits are worth more when you learn from them. BlooprintAI's search-term and placement analysis shows which terms and placements the credit-funded campaigns found, so you keep the winners and add negatives for the rest when you move to paid spend.

In the ads console under Billing, look for promotional credits or credit notes. Each shows the amount, issue date and expiry. On the prepaid wallet, credits are listed separately from your balance.

Can I choose which campaign uses the promotional credit?

No. Credits apply automatically to Sponsored ads charges across the account until they are used up or expire.

Do Amazon promotional credits expire?

Yes. The expiry date is shown with the credit and unused credit lapses. Keep at least one campaign live through the final week.

Are promotional credits refundable?

No. They are not cash and cannot be withdrawn, transferred or refunded.
