What is Blinkit ads?

Blinkit ads are the paid placements a brand buys inside the Blinkit quick commerce app: sponsored products in search and category results, billed per click, and banner or shelf placements on the home and cart screens, billed per thousand impressions. They are set up and reported in Blinkit's advertiser portal, Brand Central.

The Blinkit ad formats

Blinkit lists eight formats: Prime Banner, Product Booster, Recommendation Ads, Product Shelf, Brand Spotlight, Brand Store, E-com Shelf and Listing Spotlight. For most sellers the one that matters is Product Booster, the sponsored product that appears when a shopper searches or opens a category. It is bought per click on keywords or categories, with an optional Bid Booster that lets Blinkit raise the bid by up to 50% when a placement is worth it.

The rest are brand placements sold on impressions. A Prime Banner on the home screen or a Product Shelf in a category is priced per thousand impressions, and agencies report CPMs between ₹80 and ₹250 depending on the slot. These are bought for launches and festive pushes rather than steady conversion.

Blooprint's quick commerce ads guide on blooprint.in explains how to get onboarded and where each format appears; this page stays on what the metrics mean and how to judge them.

How Blinkit ads are billed and measured

Worked example: a snack brand spends ₹10,000 on Product Booster in a week and gets 2,000 clicks, so the average CPC is ₹5. If 160 of those clicks become orders, cost per order is ₹62.50 and conversion is 8%. With an average order value of ₹250, attributed sales are ₹40,000 and ROAS is 4.

Two things distort that ROAS. First, Blinkit reports add-to-carts (ATCs) as well as orders, and the gap between them usually means a stock-out at the dark store or a checkout drop. Second, dashboard ROAS may be computed on MRP rather than the selling price, so recompute on net realised value before comparing with Amazon or Flipkart.

Ads only serve where the dark store holds stock. A campaign with wallet balance and no impressions is almost always a supply problem, not a bidding one.

Costs and minimums

  • Brand Central accepts small wallet top-ups (agencies quote ₹1,000 as the floor), but the same agencies say ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 a month is the practical minimum for readable data.
  • Campaigns take 48 to 72 hours to settle; do not change bids daily in the first week.
  • Ad invoices carry 18% GST, claimable as input credit by a registered brand.
  • Compare formats on cost per order, not CPC or CPM, because a cheap banner impression that never converts is expensive.

Frequently asked questions

What does Blinkit ads mean?

Blinkit ads are paid placements inside the Blinkit app. Brands buy sponsored products in search and category results per click, and banners or shelves on the home and cart screens per thousand impressions, all from Brand Central.

How much do Blinkit ads cost?

Product Booster is billed per click; agencies report CPCs from ₹2 to ₹25 by category. Banners are sold on CPM, reported at ₹80 to ₹250. Blinkit does not publish a rate card, so treat these as ranges and ask the brand team.

Who can run Blinkit ads?

Brands and sellers with a live Blinkit seller account and access to Brand Central. Managed formats such as Prime Banner are usually booked through Blinkit's brand solutions team.

Why are my Blinkit ads not showing?

Usually stock. Ads serve only in dark stores that hold the product, so a listing that is out of stock in a city gets no impressions there even with wallet balance. Check availability by city before touching bids.
