Blocked balance in Flipkart Ads: what it is and how to release it (2026)

Blocked balance in Flipkart Ads is the part of your ads wallet that Flipkart holds against the remaining daily budgets of your active campaigns, so that clicks already promised can be paid for. It is not spent, but it is not available to new campaigns. The fix is to reduce it at source: end dates, right-sized daily budgets and paused campaigns you are not using.

Definition
Wallet money reserved against active campaigns' budgets
Available balance
Total balance minus blocked balance
Grows when
Many active campaigns, high daily budgets, no end dates
Released when
Campaigns end, pause or budgets are reduced
Also applies to
Advertise Now Pay Later limits

Why Flipkart blocks part of your wallet

Flipkart Ads charges per click, and clicks happen faster than the wallet updates. To make sure every campaign it is showing can pay for the clicks it is about to receive, Flipkart reserves an amount against each active campaign, roughly its unspent budget for the current period. That reserve is shown as blocked balance. Available balance is what is left, and it is the number that decides whether a new campaign can start or an existing one can keep serving.

The glossary entry on this site gives the one-line definition. This page is about why the number is bigger than you expect and what to do about it.

A worked example

Amount
Wallet balance₹20,000
Campaign A, daily budget ₹3,000, spent today ₹1,200Blocked ₹1,800
Campaign B, daily budget ₹5,000, spent today ₹500Blocked ₹4,500
Campaign C, daily budget ₹2,000, pausedBlocked ₹0
Campaign D, daily budget ₹8,000, active, no end date, rarely spendsBlocked ₹8,000
Blocked balance₹14,300
Available balance₹5,700

Campaign D is the problem. It was set up with a large budget for a sale, left active with no end date, and now spends a few hundred rupees a day. But its full daily budget is reserved every day, so ₹8,000 of the wallet is frozen for a campaign that does nothing. The exact reservation method is Flipkart's and not published; the pattern sellers report matches this example.

This is the mechanism behind the common complaint that 'my wallet has ₹20,000 but my new campaign says insufficient balance'. The money is there; it is spoken for.

How to release blocked balance

  1. List every active campaign with its daily budget

Sort by budget. The campaigns with large budgets and small spend are the ones holding your money.

  2. Give every campaign an end date

Blooprint's Flipkart ads guide notes that a daily-budget campaign with no end date keeps its reservation indefinitely. An end date, even a far one, makes the reservation finite and makes clean-up automatic.

  3. Right-size daily budgets

Set the daily budget to what the campaign actually spends on a good day plus 20 to 30% headroom, not to the sale-day number from last month.

  4. Pause what you are not using

A paused campaign releases its reservation. Pause seasonal, test and duplicate campaigns rather than leaving them at ₹1 budgets.

  5. Top up for the peak, not the average

Before a sale event, add enough that available balance after blocking still covers the day; it is available balance that funds new impressions.

Blocked balance and Advertise Now Pay Later

The same reservation applies to a credit limit. If your ANPL limit is ₹50,000 and active campaigns reserve ₹35,000, only ₹15,000 is available to a new campaign, even though nothing has been deducted from a payout yet. The credit line makes the reservation less visible, because there is no wallet balance to watch, so the campaign list is the only place to see it.

Blocked balance versus wallet, spend and invoice

BlooprintAI's Flipkart budget monitor shows every campaign's daily budget against its actual spend pace, which is exactly the view that finds the campaigns freezing your balance, and budgets and end dates can be changed in bulk with a summary before the change is applied.

  • Wallet balance: money added, minus spend to date.
  • Blocked balance: the part of that reserved against active campaigns.
  • Available balance: wallet minus blocked; the number that matters for delivery.
  • Spend: clicks and impressions actually charged; this is what the monthly GST invoice in Seller Hub shows.
  • Refund: unused wallet balance is not automatically refunded but stays available; promotional credits usually expire.

Frequently asked questions

What is blocked balance in Flipkart Ads?

The part of your ads wallet that Flipkart reserves against the remaining budgets of active campaigns, so clicks about to happen can be paid for. It is not spent, but it is not available to other campaigns or for withdrawal until those campaigns pause, end or reduce their budgets.

Why is my blocked balance so high?

Usually because of campaigns with large daily budgets that spend little, especially ones left active with no end date after a sale. Each reserves its full daily budget every day.

How do I reduce blocked balance in Flipkart Ads?

Give every campaign an end date, cut daily budgets to actual spend plus headroom, and pause campaigns you are not using. The reservation is released as soon as the campaign is paused or the budget is lowered.

Is blocked balance deducted from my payout?

No. Only actual spend is charged. Blocked balance is a hold on wallet money or on your Advertise Now Pay Later limit, and it is released when campaigns end.

Why does a new campaign say insufficient balance when my wallet has money?

Because available balance, which is wallet minus blocked, is what a new campaign checks. Release blocked balance from other campaigns or top up the wallet.

Does blocked balance show on the GST invoice?

No. The monthly invoice in Seller Hub covers actual ad spend only.
