Flipkart ads for new sellers: the first campaign, the first budget and the first 60 days (2026)

A new Flipkart seller should start ads with one CPC campaign on two or three FSNs, automatic targeting, ₹500 to ₹1,000 a day per campaign, and expect ROI of 2 to 3 for the first month while the listings build history. Smart ROI comes later, once an FSN sells steadily. This guide is the first 60 days in order, with the numbers and the mistakes that cost new accounts most.

Why ads matter more for a new listing

A new listing has no sales rank, few or no reviews and, for its first two weeks or so, no usual price, as gonukkad's guide notes. Organic search has little reason to show it. Ads are the only lever that puts it in front of shoppers from day one, which is why Flipkart Ads promotes its New Listing Launchpad programme, whose explainer video has around 12,000 views. The trade-off is that ads on a listing with no reviews convert worse than ads on an established one, so the first weeks cost more per order.

Blooprint's Flipkart ads guide covers creating campaigns click by click and its post on Smart ROI versus CPC explains both bidding modes. This page is the plan around them for an account with no history.

Before the first rupee

  • Get three to five reviews on each FSN you will advertise, through normal sales or Flipkart's own review programmes; ads on a zero-review listing mostly buy clicks that leave.
  • Check price against the top five listings for your main search term. Ads cannot sell a product priced well above the market.
  • Work out break-even ROI per FSN: one divided by margin before ads. At 25% margin it is 4. You will run below it at first; you need to know by how much.
  • Decide the total you can afford to spend learning, for example ₹30,000 over the first month, and treat it as a cost of launch, not as a campaign that must pay back immediately.
  • Check stock. An FSN that sells out in week two wastes the history the ads were building.

The first 60 days

  1. Days 1 to 14: one CPC campaign, automatic

Two or three hero FSNs, automatic targeting, CPC bidding at the suggested bid, ₹500 to ₹1,000 a day. Do not change anything for the first week except to add budget if it runs out before evening. The goal is search term data.

  2. Days 15 to 30: first cuts and first keywords

Open the search term report. Terms with 30 to 50 clicks and no orders become negatives. Terms with orders become exact keywords in a second, manual CPC campaign, bid slightly above what they were costing.

  3. Days 31 to 45: move money to what works

FSN report against break-even. FSNs converting better get more budget; FSNs well below break-even with plenty of clicks come out of ads while you fix the listing.

  4. Days 46 to 60: consider Smart ROI

An FSN selling five to ten a day, the threshold ecomadvisor quotes, can move to a Smart ROI campaign with a target slightly above break-even. Keep the manual campaign on your best exact terms.

A worked example: ₹750 a day for 30 days is ₹22,500 plus ₹4,050 GST. At ROI 2.5 that returns ₹56,250 of attributed sales, below a break-even of 4, so the month loses money on paper. It also produces the search terms, reviews and sales rank that let month two run at ROI 4 or better. The mistake is stopping at day 20 because ROI was 2.5.

Mistakes new sellers make

Once an account passes a few dozen FSNs, the day-15 and day-31 steps become the slow part. BlooprintAI creates Flipkart PLA campaigns in bulk from one CSV and filters search terms and FSNs by ROI, clicks and spend across every campaign, with bid and budget changes applied in bulk after a summary.

  • Starting with Smart ROI on a listing with no sales; it under-spends or does not spend at all.
  • Advertising the whole catalogue at ₹100 a day each, so nothing gets enough clicks to learn.
  • Changing bids daily in week one, before any term has enough clicks to judge.
  • Judging the day's ROI the next morning, before attributed orders arrive.
  • Leaving campaigns without end dates or daily caps, which reserves wallet money as blocked balance.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a new seller spend on Flipkart ads?

₹500 to ₹1,000 a day per campaign on two or three hero FSNs, as agency guides suggest, plus 18% GST. Decide a learning budget for the first month in advance and expect ROI below break-even while listings build history.

Should a new seller use Smart ROI or CPC?

CPC first. Smart ROI bids to a target using sales history, and ecomadvisor puts the useful threshold at about five to ten sales a day. Move an FSN to Smart ROI once it gets there.

What ROI should a new Flipkart seller expect?

Agency posts from globalwebsters and adtorise describe 2 to 3x for the first 30 to 45 days on a new account. It should rise as reviews, negatives and exact keywords accumulate.

Can I advertise a product with no reviews?

You can, but paid clicks convert poorly without reviews. Get three to five reviews first where possible, and keep the first campaign small until conversion improves.

What is New Listing Launchpad?

A Flipkart Ads programme aimed at new listings, explained in an official Flipkart Ads video with around 12,000 views. Check the Ads panel for eligibility and terms for your account.
