An auto campaign is a Sponsored Products campaign with automatic targeting, where Amazon chooses which shopper searches and product pages to show your ad on, based on your listing's title, category and attributes. You set only a bid and a budget. Flipkart PLA has the same option, called automatic targeting, and both are the usual way to discover which search terms actually convert.
When you create a Sponsored Products campaign and choose automatic targeting, Amazon reads the advertised listing and matches it to searches and product pages it considers relevant. It sorts those matches into four targeting groups, close match, loose match, substitutes and complements, each with its own bid you can raise, lower or pause. There are no keywords to add; the only way to steer the campaign is through bids on those groups and through negative keywords and negative products.
Worked example: a seller of a ₹1,299 mixer grinder jar sets an auto campaign at ₹300 a day with a ₹6 default bid. Amazon shows the ad on searches such as mixer jar 1.5 litre (close match), kitchen appliances (loose match), competitor jars (substitutes) and mixer grinders themselves (complements). After two weeks the search term report shows 700 clicks, ₹4,200 spend and 56 orders: ACoS ₹4,200 / ₹72,744 = 5.8%, but with a third of the spend on loose match terms that produced two orders.
Flipkart's automatic PLA campaign works the same way at the FSN level, with Flipkart deciding the placements and search matches, and a keyword campaign as the manual alternative.
They are the cheapest keyword research available. Amazon's matching uses shopper behaviour you cannot see, so an auto campaign surfaces search terms you would not have guessed, along with real click and order counts for each. That data feeds manual campaigns: profitable search terms become exact match keywords, and wasteful ones become negatives.
The weakness is control. An auto campaign will keep spending on a loose match term that never converts until you add it as a negative, and it cannot bid differently for two search terms in the same group. Blooprint's guide on blooprint.in covers creating campaigns; this page is about what the auto setting does once it runs.

Learn more →It is a Sponsored Products campaign with automatic targeting. Amazon selects the search terms and product pages to show the ad on from the listing content, and you control only the bid, budget and negatives.
In an auto campaign Amazon picks the targets. In a manual campaign you enter keywords with match types, or ASINs and categories, and bid on each one. Auto discovers terms; manual controls spend on them.
Yes. Flipkart PLA offers automatic targeting, where Flipkart chooses where the ad shows, and keyword targeting, where you add the keywords yourself.
Usually yes, alongside a small manual campaign on obvious keywords. The auto campaign finds what converts; after two to four weeks, move those terms into exact match keywords.
Loose match and complements groups reach beyond the exact product. Lower their bids or pause them, and add the irrelevant search terms as negative keywords.
